Tattoo Removal
A few questions and answers regarding tattoos and their removal by laser treatment
Why is my tattoo permanent?
When the ink is injected into the skin, the body's natural defence mechanisms try to reject it.
The ink is surrounded by collagen and is prevented from spreading and "contaminating" the surrounding tissue. As the ink cannot disperse, it is therefore permanent.
How does laser tattoo removal treatment work?

Each laser has different frequencies of light which are absorbed by different colours. The laser settings are customised to match the different colours in the tattoo.
During tattoo removal treatment, the ink is heated by the laser which results in a gradual fading and subsequent removal of the ink.
what type of laser will i need? The ND YAG is the best laser for removal of black ink. it also removes red, orange, brown, purple and blue.
The Ruby laser is ideal for greens and blues.
Some clinics use only one laser, we have both types at Newlife Clinic.
how many treatments will i need?

This depends on the colour and depth of the tattoo. An amateur or "home made" tattoo may only need 3 - 6 treatments, whereas a professional multi-coloured tattoo may require more treatments.
will it hurt?
The laser produces a stinging sensation a little like being flicked with an elastic band. No anaesthetic is required.
how much will it cost?
A small "self inflicted" tattoo can be treated for as little as fifty pounds per session.
With professional tattoos, we would conduct treatment on a small test area at a cost of£25.00 which would then be deducted from the cost of your first full treatment. |
